Questions
Short answers to what we get asked most, about hiring a bike and about our guided tours. Anything not here, send us a message.
Tours
Yes. Guided motorbike safaris, from a Rift Valley weekend to the long ride north, where the riding is best. We lead every tour ourselves, with a support vehicle and a mechanic behind you, for a minimum of two riders. Priced per trip, on request. The tours
The Honda CRF300 Rally and the Yamaha Ténéré 700, owned, serviced and known by us, on tours and for hire alike. The bikes
Nairobi. The quickest way to reach us is WhatsApp on +254 714 331 182, Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm, or the enquiry page.
Booking
Tell us your dates through the enquiry page, or on WhatsApp at +254 714 331 182. A 30% deposit holds the bike. If you turn up on the day we'll help if a bike is free, but message first so someone is there to meet you.
A valid motorcycle licence, which we check before you ride, a copy of your ID or passport, and the payment and deposit.
Cash or M-Pesa.
Two days.
Yes. Tell us how long you're thinking and we'll put a price together that works for both of us.
Two different things. A 30% booking deposit holds the bike for your dates. Then a refundable deposit is taken with the bike, $500 for the Honda or $1,000 for the Ténéré, and returned when it comes back. If anything is damaged, the parts are replaced out of it.
More than 14 days before the booking, a full refund minus transaction costs. Between 7 and 13 days, half. Less than 7 days, no refund.
Within Nairobi, yes, for a fee.
On the road
A helmet and a jacket come with every bike, subject to size. Gloves and boots are yours to bring; if you need some, we'll tell you where to buy them in Nairobi. A Sena intercom is an extra, $10 a day, so you can talk while you ride.
No. Ride as far as you like.
That's rather the point. Tell us where you're headed and we'll go through the roads, the fuel and the places to stay before you leave. If you'd rather we led it, that's a tour.
Yes. We arrange the paperwork, at $80 per border.
The bikes carry two, but it changes the ride: heavier, slower, and harder to handle on the dirt, where a bike is at its best with one rider standing on the pegs. Fine for the tarmac; think twice for the rough stuff.
Yes. Every bike goes out with a basic toolkit and the consumables that matter: inner tubes, clutch cable, levers. If you'd like a quick puncture lesson before you leave, ask.
Call us. Most fixes are simple and we'll talk you through them from wherever you are. If that doesn't work, we'll replace the bike as soon as we can, depending on what's free and how far from Nairobi you've got.
Yes. Pannier racks with 60 l soft luggage and a Sena intercom are $10 a day each; a fuel bag, a water jerry and a Quad Lock phone mount are $5 a day each. The full list
The paperwork
Yes, as part of the rental agreement. It doesn't cover damage you cause: small spills happen off-road, and any parts are replaced from the deposit. [Bertie to confirm the wording.]
The bikes are covered for theft. Park inside guarded compounds, keep the keys on you, and when you camp, keep the bike beside your tent. [Bertie to confirm.]
Contact us and we'll take it from there. You're responsible for damage to the bike, to yourself and to anyone else involved for the length of the rental. [Bertie to confirm the wording.]
