How do I rent a bike?

Once you know your dates get in touch or reach out via Whatsapp on: +254 714 331 182

What do I need in order to rent a bike?

  • A valid motorcycle driving licence

  • A copy of your ID or Passport

  • Payment and Deposit

What payment methods do you accept?

  • Cash or Mpesa

Do you provide any gear as part of the rental?

We provide helmets & jackets for all our rentals (Size XL) but do not currently stock gloves or boots. We highly recommend all riders to wear suitable gear and can point you in the right direction of where to buy some if you don't have some already. We can also provide SENA communication systems for riders so they can chat whilst riding - these are charged at an extra fee.

Are the bikes insured?

Yes we provide insurance for the bikes as part of the rental agreement. Please be aware however that this does not cover user damage to the bikes. We understand that small crashes can happen, especially when driving off-road. Any damaged parts will be replaced using the deposit taken upon rental.

Is driving in Nairobi dangerous?

Driving in Nairobi can be dangerous to those unfamiliar with it. The streets have many potholes and the other drivers on the road are notoriously unpredictable compared to that of other cities. That said, a defensive driving style and low-risk attitude can go a long way to keeping you safe. Don’t overtake where you cannot see the road ahead of you, avoid driving a night where possible and give cars as much space as you can to avoid unexpected movements that might impact you.

Do I need a driving license to rent a motorcycle?

Yes. For your insurance to be valid, you will need a valid driving license for motorcycles up to 250cc / 17.4hp. Without the correct license, you are putting yourself and others at risk. Most health/travel insurance companies will also void your insurance if you do not have the correct driving license. We will check all licenses before renting motorcycles. As a foreigner, and providing you have the necessary license in your country of origin, you are legally allowed to drive in Kenya for 6 months before applying for a local driving license.

Is driving in Kenya dangerous?

Most people feel that once out of the bigger cities, driving in Kenya becomes a lot safer. Whilst this is mostly true, the bigger roads used as main routes between cities are some of the most dangerous in the world, due to the number of trucks and often poor driving habits of the other drivers on the road. We always advise people to take the more scenic roads when travelling as these provide the best rides and the least traffic. However, the main roads can be useful for getting across the country quickly when needed. As always, drive defensively and avoid any unnecessary risk-taking.

Is driving at night ok?

Whilst we always ensure the lights on our bikes are working before they are rented, we advise against riding at night. Potholes are harder to spot and other drivers’ low-beam discipline is poor which can cause bad night blindness. Additionally, the risk of drunk drivers increases in the evenings which can pose a significant risk to you.

Do you accept rental on demand?

Yes, provided the motorcycles are available and not already booked, however we ask everyone to whatsapp/ring in advance to ensure someone is there to meet you. Is there a kilometer limit?

No you can ride as far as you like.

Can I drive the motorcycle outside of Kenya?

Yes! We can arrange border crossing at $80 per border.

What happens if the motorcycle breaks down?

Whilst we do our best to ensure the bike will not break down on you, occasionally this can happen. Often the fix can be very simple so we will also endeavour to get you back on the road from where you are, with our simple troubleshooting steps. If this isn't possible, We will endeavour to replace the motorcycle as soon as possible, though this is dependant on avaliability and your distance from Nairobi.

Will I have to interact police officers?

Kenyan Police Officers are notorious for picking out any excuse to ask for a bribe. We will ensure you have all the correct documentation but it may still be difficult to avoid a made-up charge. If you have the time, this can be avoided by wasting the officers’ time where possible and recording any incidents with the Police. Typically it is best to avoid the police altogether. Outside the city this is done fairly easily but whilst in Nairobi avoid the CBD, and don’t push to the front of the queue at intersections or junctions.

What happens if the motorcycle is stolen?

The motorcycles are all covered for theft under the insurance. To avoid this however, we suggest you always park your motorcycle within guarded compounds and double check you have taken the keys with you. When out camping in the bush, we suggest parking the bikes next to your tents.

Can we share a motorcycle?

Absolutely - the motorcycles are comfy for two passengers but be aware that this will significantly change the driving experience. The bike will be much heavier, handle differently and your acceleration will be slower. Whilst it’s possible, we would generally advise against doing this if you’re planning on taking the bikes off-road. Off-road, the bikes handle best when you are able to stand up on the pegs and manoeuvre the bike beneath you.

Do you provide tools and spare inner tubes for bike?

Yes! We know that regardless of planning and experience, shit happens.  We provide you with a basic set of tools to fix small issues like punctures and broken cables as well as motorcycle consumables such as clutch cables, inner tubes and levers. We will also give quick demonstrations for those unsure on how to do a quick puncture fix.

Can you deliver the bikes?

Yes this can be arranged for a fee within Nairobi.

Do you do deals for long-term rentals?

Yes absolutely, get in touch if you're looking for a long-term rental and we'll come up with a solution that works for all.
